Key figures for international credential evaluation and professional recognition in Denmark
In 2025, the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science (Danish ENIC/NARIC office) made a total of 5,588 assessments of foreign qualifications of various kinds (down 5 % from the previous year). This includes 4,027 personal assessments, i.e. a document stating the level and field of a qualification, which the qualification holder can use when looking for a job etc.
While qualifications at all levels are assessed, two thirds of personal assessments indicate a level within higher education.
The average case processing time for a personal assessment in 2025 was 30 calendar days.
For 2025, the competent recognition authorities reported 7,150 recognition decisions for the purpose of establishment. Most of the recognition decisions were made by the Danish Patient Safety Authority and the Danish Working Environment Authority.
Overall, 48 % of the decisions in 2025 were positive, 38 % conditional, and 14 % negative.
On average, the processing time was kept under three months in more than 95 % of cases under the EU recognition directive and in approximately 60 % of other cases.
Service providers from EU/EEA countries are entitled to practice their profession on a temporary and occasional basis in Denmark. 2,695 service providers registered in 2025.
