Royal Danish Library’s national license consortium negotiates and administers more than 70 license agreements for electronic information resources on behalf of Danish research and educational institutions, including the Danish universities.
The University Directors' Committee (UDU), in interaction with Royal Danish Library, develops the strategy and provides a unified, clear strategic mandate for the largest national negotiations.
Regarding conditions for Open Access and associated author rights in electronic journals, the consortium supports Denmark's National Strategy for Open Access through negotiations with the publishers the consortium already collaborates with. Self-archiving rights (green Open Access) have been implemented as a prerequisite for new collaborations with publishers.
Furthermore, the consortium collaborates with consortia in the Nordic countries - and internationally - to ensure the best possible negotiation results that support the national strategy.
Royal Danish Library’s national license consortium has entered into a number of agreements with various publishers, including Elsevier, Wiley, Taylor & Francis, and the Springer Nature Group. The agreements are expected to have a positive impact on the share of Open Access in Denmark.
