Open Science is a set of principles and practices aimed at making scientific research from all disciplines accessible to everyone for the benefit of society as a whole. Follow the Agency's work on Open Science.
Open Science makes knowledge much more readily available and openly accessible to a broad audience, including businesses, institutions, and the general public. This applies both to scientific publications (Open Access) and to the data used in research (FAIR research data). Increased access to publications and research data makes the research process far more transparent. It also strengthens research integrity by improving opportunities to reproduce and validate research findings.

The Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science is responsible for establishing the overall strategic framework for Open Access in Denmark. This includes, for example, the former Danish National Open Access Strategy, which was evaluated in 2024 and expired at the end of 2025, as well as monitoring the development of Open Access.
