Royal Danish Library and Agreements with Publishers

Royal Danish Library’s national licensing consortium negotiates and administers more than 70 license agreements for electronic information resources on behalf of Danish research and higher education institutions, including the Danish Universities.

The Committee of University Directors (UDU) develops the strategy in cooperation with Royal Danish Library and provides a clear, coordinated strategic mandate for the largest national negotiations.

With regard to Open Access provisions and associated author rights in electronic journals, the consortium supports the 2028 Danish National Strategy for Open Access through its negotiations with publishers with which the consortium already has agreements. Self-archiving rights (Green Open Access) are a prerequisite for entering into new agreements with publishers.

The consortium also cooperates with consortia in the Nordic countries and internationally to secure the best possible negotiation outcomes in support of the national strategy.

Agreements with International Publishers

Royal Danish Library’s national licensing consortium has entered into a number of agreements with various publishers, including Elsevier, Wiley, Taylor & Francis and Springer Nature Group. These agreements are expected to have a positive impact on the proportion of research publications made available through Open Access in Denmark.
